Monday and Wednesday — midday—Reflective Communion Service
MAUNDY THURSDAY, is the day on which we gather to share a simple meal, similar to the simple Passover meal Jesus and his disciples shared in Jerusalem the night he was betrayed by Judas Iscariot.
This year, on March 29th, we will gather in the Worship Centre to share in a similar simple meal that replicates the Last Supper of the time of
Jesus. Following the Passover meal, or Tenebrae, there will be short
contemplative service concluding with the Eucharist. The evening closes with the “stripping of the church”, a time when the church buildings are cleared of Christian symbols, in preparation for Good Friday.
5.45pm: Please be seated in time for a 6pm start.
6.00pm: Welcome and Grace, followed by an introduction to the back ground and significance of Tenebrae.
6.15pm: Simple Passover meal
6.45pm: Contemplative service followed by a Eucharist
7.15pm: Stripping of the two worship areas of St Peters.
As the meal is provided, a ‘Koha’ is invited. If you would like to share in this meal, it would be helpful if you could let Nannette in the office know of your intention by Tuesday 27th March.
